1773 - Abu 'Abd Allah al-Tehrani narrated to me, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us, from Ibn Tawus, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Then whatever is easily available of the sacrificial animal," he said: It is according to one's means.
[The fifth view]
And those who interpreted it based on cheapness or high prices:
1774 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn 'Ammar and Muhammad ibn Zadhan narrated to us, they said: Yahya ibn Sulaym narrated to us, Hisham ibn 'Urwah narrated to us, from his father, regarding the saying of Allah the Exalted: "Then whatever is easily available of the sacrificial animal," he said: That is only according to what is between cheapness and high prices.
His saying: "And do not shave your heads until the sacrificial animal has reached its place of slaughter"
1775 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Ibn Fudayl narrated to us, 'Ata'—meaning ibn al-Sa'ib—narrated to us, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, that a man came to him and said: O Ibn 'Abbas, shall I slaughter before I shave, or shave before I slaughter? Ibn 'Abbas said: Take that from the Quran. Allah says: "And do not shave your heads until the sacrificial animal has reached its place of slaughter." So, the slaughtering is before the shaving.
1776 - Yazid ibn Sinan narrated to us, Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan narrated to us, Sulayman al-A'mash narrated to us, from Ibrahim, from 'Alqamah, "And do not shave your heads until the sacrificial animal has reached its place of slaughter," [he said]: If he hastens and shaves before the sacrificial animal has reached its place of slaughter, then he must provide a fidyah (expiation) of fasting, charity, or a sacrifice. Ibrahim said: I mentioned this to Sa'id ibn Jubayr, and he said: This is the view of Ibn 'Abbas, and he indicated thirty with his hand. It was narrated from Ibrahim al-Nakha'i similarly. I read to Muhammad ibn Muzahim, Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "And do not shave your heads," he means by that: the one who is prevented (muhsar), he should not shave his head nor release himself until the sacrificial animal has reached its place of slaughter.
His saying: "Until the sacrificial animal has reached its place of slaughter"
1777 - Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la informed us by reading, Ibn Wahb informed us, Khallad ibn Sulayman narrated to us, he said: Khalid ibn Abi 'Imran said: I asked al-Qasim and Salim about the saying of Allah: "Until the sacrificial animal has reached its place of slaughter," he said: Until the sacrificial animal is slaughtered. It was narrated from 'Alqamah similarly. I read to Muhammad, Muhammad narrated to us, Bukayr narrated to us, from Muqatil, regarding His saying: "Until the sacrificial animal has reached its place of slaughter," and its place of slaughter is: Makkah. So if the sacrificial animal reaches Makkah, he may release himself from his ihram (state of ritual consecration) and shave his head, and he must perform the Hajj the following year. This is from 'Ata' ibn Abi Rabah.
