[His saying: And no immorality (Fusuq)]

[The first perspective]

1825 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Zubayd, from Abu Wa'il, from 'Abd Allah, from the Prophet (peace be upon him), who said: "Insulting a Muslim is immorality (fusuq), and fighting him is disbelief." I said to Abu Wa'il: Did you hear Ibn Mas'ud narrating it from the Prophet (peace be upon him)? He said: Yes.

1826 - Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la informed us by way of reading, Ibn Wahb reported, Yunus reported to me that Nafi' informed him that 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar used to say: "And immorality (al-fusuq): it is committing acts of disobedience to Allah within the Sacred Precincts (al-Haram)."

1827 - 'Amr al-Awdi narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Khusayf, from Miqsam, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding "And no immorality (wa la fusuq)," he said: Immorality is acts of disobedience.

Husayn ibn Hafs and Mu'ammal ibn Isma'il narrated from al-Thawri, from Khusayf this hadith, and they both said: Immorality (al-fusuq) is insulting.

It was narrated from Mujahid, 'Ata' ibn Yasar, 'Ata' ibn Abi Rabah, 'Ikrimah, Muhammad ibn Ka'b, al-Zuhri, Sa'id ibn Jubayr, al-Rabi' ibn Anas, 'Ata' al-Khurasani, Muqatil ibn Hayyan, Ibrahim al-Nakha'i, Qatadah, Tawus, and Makhul, that they said: Immorality (al-fusuq) is acts of disobedience.

It was narrated from Ibn al-Zubayr, al-Hasan, and al-Suddi that they said: Immorality (al-fusuq) is insulting.

[The second perspective]

1828 - 'Amr al-Awdi narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us, from Husayn ibn 'Aqil, from al-Dahhak: "And immorality (wa al-fusuq): it is name-calling (with derogatory titles)."

1829 - My father narrated to us, Hisham al-Razi and Ibn al-Asbahani narrated to us, they said: Abu al-Ahwas narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding the saying of Allah: "And no immorality (wa la fusuq)," he said: Immorality (al-fusuq) is name-calling (with derogatory titles); you say to your brother: "O oppressor, O immoral one (fasiq)."

[The third perspective]

It was read to Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la, Ibn Wahb reported, he said: And Malik said: Immorality (al-fusuq) is: slaughtering for idols, and Allah knows best. Allah said: "Or [it is] a sin, having been dedicated to other than Allah."
