Dinar, from 'Ikrimah, who said: There were people who would perform Hajj without provisions, so Allah revealed: "And take provisions, for the best of provisions is taqwa." Abu Muhammad said: Warqa' narrated this hadith from 'Amr ibn Dinar, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, and what Ibn 'Uyaynah narrates is more authentic. It was also narrated from Abu al-Zubayr, Mujahid, Abu al-'Aliyah, al-Nakha'i, Qatadah, al-Rabi' ibn Anas, and Muqatil ibn Hayyan, something similar.

1840 - My father narrated to us, Abu Nu'aym narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Suqah, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: "And take provisions," he said: "Sawiq (barley meal), flour, and ka'k (biscuits/crackers)."

It was narrated from 'Ikrimah, al-Sha'bi, Salim ibn 'Abd Allah, and 'Ata' al-Khurasani that they said: One should take provisions of food, and they mentioned it with varying wordings.

[The second perspective]

1841 - My father narrated to us, Abu al-Jumahir Muhammad ibn 'Uthman narrated to us, Yahya ibn Hamzah narrated to us, from al-Nu'man ibn al-Mundhir, from Makhul: "And take provisions," he said: The provision is the righteous companion, meaning: in travel.

His saying: For the best of provisions is taqwa

1842 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu al-Tahir narrated to us, Abu Zurarah al-Layth ibn 'Asim al-Qitbani narrated to me, he said: Abu Khayrah Muhibb ibn Hadhlam wrote to me, he wrote mentioning the saying of Allah: "And take provisions, for the best of provisions is taqwa." Taqwa is a word that has an interpretation; its interpretation is: abstinence from what Allah has forbidden.

1843 - Al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid ibn Mazid al-Bayruti informed us by way of recitation, Shu'ayb my father informed me, 'Uthman ibn 'Ata' informed us, from his father: As for "And take provisions," it means food, and the provision of the Hereafter is taqwa.
