Meaning the leaders of the Jews, and Ka'b ibn al-Ashraf. Abu Muhammad said: This is how it was interpreted by Abu al-'Aliyah, al-Suddi, and al-Rabi' ibn Anas.

141 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan narrated to us, Salama narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq who said: Concerning what Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad, the freedman of Zayd ibn Thabit, narrated to me, from 'Ikrimah or Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding: "They say, 'We are with you,'" meaning: We are upon the same as that which you are upon.

142 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-'Ala' narrated to us, 'Uthman ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Bishr ibn 'Umarah, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding: "They say, 'We are with you,' we are only mockers," meaning they are making fun of the companions of Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Similar to this was reported from Qatadah and al-Rabi' ibn Anas.
His saying: "Allah mocks them"
143 - Through the same chain from Ibn 'Abbas: Allah—Mighty and Majestic is He—says: "Allah mocks them," meaning He ridicules them as retribution against them.
His saying: "And He prolongs them"
144 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding: "And He prolongs them," he says: He gives them respite.
145 - Al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Hatim al-Harawi narrated to us, al-Hajjaj ibn Muhammad informed us, from Ibn Jurayj, from Mujahid regarding: "And He prolongs them," meaning He increases them.
146 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja'far al-Razi narrated to us, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah regarding His saying: "And He prolongs them in their transgression, wandering blindly," meaning they fluctuate. He says: He increased them in straying upon their straying, and blindness upon their blindness.

147 - And through the same chain from Abu al-'Aliyah regarding His saying: "And He prolongs them in their transgression," meaning: in their straying.
يعني رؤس الْيَهُودِ، وَكَعْبَ بْنَ الأَشْرَفِ. قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ: وَكَذَا فَسَّرَهُ أَبُو الْعَالِيَةِ وَالسُّدِّيُّ وَالرَّبِيعُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ.
قوله: قَالُوا إِنَّا مَعَكُمْ
١٤١ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ثنا أَبُو غَسَّانَ، ثنا سَلَمَةُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ فِيمَا حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٌ مَوْلَى زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ أَوْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: قَالُوا إِنَّا مَعَكُمْ أَيْ إِنَّا عَلَى مِثْلِ مَا أَنْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ.
[قوله: إنما نحن مستهزؤن]
١٤٢ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ بِشْرِ، بْنُ عُمَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ، عَنِ الضحاك، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: قَالُوا إِنَّا مَعَكُمْ، إِنَّمَا نحن مستهزؤن سَاخِرُونَ بِأَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- وَرُوِيَ عَنِ قَتَادَةَ وَالرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ نَحْو ذَلِكَ.
قَوْلُهُ: اللَّهُ يَسْتَهْزِئُ بِهِمْ
١٤٣ - بِهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: يَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: اللَّهُ يَسْتَهْزِئُ بِهِمْ يَسْخَرُ مِنْهُمْ لِلنِّقْمَةِ مِنْهُمْ.
قوله: وَيَمُدُّهُمْ
١٤٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ: يَمُدُّهُمْ يَقُولُ: يُمْلِي لَهُمْ.
١٤٥ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ الْهَرَوِيُّ، أَنْبَأَ الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، يَمُدُّهُمْ يَزِيدَهُمْ.
١٤٦ - حَدَّثَنَا عِصَامُ بْنُ رَوَّادٍ، ثنا آدَمُ، ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الرَّازِيُّ، عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ، قَوْلُهُ، وَيَمُدُّهُمْ فِي طُغْيَانِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ يَعْنِي يَتَرَدَّدُونَ. يَقُولُ: زَادَهُمْ ضلالة إِلَى ضَلالَتِهِمْ، وَعَمًى إِلَى عَمَاهُمْ.

١٤٧ - وَبِهِ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَيَمُدُّهُمْ فِي طُغْيَانِهِمْ يَعْنِي فِي ضَلالَتِهِمْ.
