"Deaf," meaning deaf in the ears.

177 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said, in what Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad narrated to me, from 'Ikrimah or Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: "Deaf, dumb, blind, so they do not return," meaning they do not return to guidance. This is also how al-Rabi' ibn Anas interpreted it.

١٧٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا صَفْوَانُ، ثنا الْوَلِيدُ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ صُمٌّ عَنِ الْحَقِّ فَهُمْ لَا يسمعونه، بُكْمٌ عَنْهُ فَهُمْ لا يَنْطِقُونَ بِهِ، عُمْيٌ عَنْهُ فَهُمْ لا يُبْصِرُونَهُ.

١٧٥ - حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ أَبِي مُوسَى الأَنْصَارِيُّ، ثنا هَارُونُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي حَمَّادٍ، عَنْ أَسْبَاطِ بْنِ نَصْرٍ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ، قَوْلُهُ بُكْمٌ يَعْنِي خُرْسًا عَنِ الْكَلامِ بِالإِيمَانِ فَلا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ الْكَلامَ. صُمٌّ يَعْنِي صُمَّ الآذَانِ.

١٧٧ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ثنا أَبُو غَسَّانَ، ثنا سَلَمَةُ قَالَ: قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، فِيمَا حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ أَوْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: صُمٌّ بُكْمٌ عُمْيٌ فَهُمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ أَيْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ إِلَى هُدًى. وَكَذَلِكَ فَسَّرَهُ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ.
