His saying: "And if you are in doubt"
234 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan narrated to us, Salamah ibn al-Fadl narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, who said: Regarding what Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad narrated to me, from 'Ikrimah or Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And if you are in doubt concerning that which We have sent down upon Our servant"—meaning: in doubt regarding that which he brought to you.
235 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja'far narrated to us, from al-Rabi' from Abu al-'Aliyah, regarding His saying: "And if you are in doubt," he said: In suspicion. This is likewise how it was interpreted by al-Hasan, Qatadah, and al-Rabi' ibn Anas.
His saying: "concerning that which We have sent down upon Our servant"
236 - al-Hasan ibn Ahmad narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bashshar narrated to us, Surur ibn al-Mughirah narrated to us, from 'Abbad ibn Mansur, from al-Hasan regarding His saying: "And if you are in doubt concerning that which We have sent down upon Our servant"—this is the saying of Allah to those who doubted among the disbelievers regarding what Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, brought.
His saying the Exalted: "Then produce a surah the like thereof"
237 - al-Hasan ibn Muhammad al-Sabah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding "Then produce a surah the like thereof," he said: Like the Qur'an.
238 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid al-Narsi narrated to us, Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "Then produce a surah the like thereof," he said: Like this Qur'an, in truth and honesty, with no falsehood or lies in it.
239 - al-Hasan ibn Ahmad Abu Fatimah narrated to us: Ibrahim ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bashshar al-Wasiti narrated to us, Surur ibn al-Mughirah narrated to us, from 'Abbad ibn Mansur, from al-Hasan regarding His saying: "Then produce a surah the like thereof," he said: They shall not be able, by Allah, to produce a surah the like thereof, even if they were to strive.
His saying: "And call upon your witnesses other than Allah, if you should be truthful"

قوله تَعَالَى: وَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ فِي رَيْبٍ
٢٣٤ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، ثنا أَبُو غَسَّانَ، ثنا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ «١» قَالَ: فِيمَا حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ أَوْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: وَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ فِي رَيْبٍ مِمَّا نَزَّلْنَا عَلَى عَبْدِنَا أَيْ فِي شَكٍّ مِمَّا جَاءَكُمْ بِهِ.
٢٣٥ - حَدَّثَنَا عِصَامُ بْنُ رَوَّادٍ، ثنا آدَمُ ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ، عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ، فِي قَوْلِهِ وَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ فِي رَيْبٍ قَالَ: فِي شَكٍّ. وَكَذَلِكَ فَسَّرَهُ الْحَسَنُ وَقَتَادَةُ وَالرَّبِيعُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ.
قَوْلُهُ: مِمَّا نَزَّلْنَا عَلَى عَبْدِنَا
٢٣٦ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بَشَّارٍ، ثنا سُرُورُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ، عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ فِي رَيْبٍ مِمَّا نَزَّلْنَا عَلَى عَبْدِنَا فَهَذَا قَوْلُ اللَّهِ لِمَنْ شَكَّ مِنَ الْكُفَّارِ فِيمَا جَاءَ بِهِ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَأْتُوا بِسُورَةٍ مِنْ مِثْلِهِ
٢٣٧ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّبَّاحُ ثنا شَبَابَةُ ثنا وَرْقَاءُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ «٢» فَأْتُوا بِسُورَةٍ مِنْ مِثْلِهِ قَالَ: مِثْلِ الْقُرْآنِ.
٢٣٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ثنا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ فَأْتُوا بِسُورَةٍ مِنْ مِثْلِهِ قَالَ مِنْ مِثْلِ هَذَا الْقُرْآنِ حَقًّا وَصِدْقًا لَا بَاطِلَ فِيهِ وَلا كَذِبَ «٣» .
٢٣٩ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ أبو فاطمة: ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بَشَّارٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا سُرُورُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ فِي قَوْلِهِ: فَأْتُوا بِسُورَةٍ مِنْ مِثْلِهِ قَالَ: فَلا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ وَاللَّهِ أَنْ يَأْتُوا بِسُورَةٍ مِنْ مِثْلِهِ وَلَوْ حَرَصُوا
قَوْلُهُ: وَادْعُوا شُهَدَاءَكُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ
