Ishaq, regarding what Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad narrated to me, from 'Ikrimah or Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And call upon your witnesses other than Allah"—meaning: those you are able to call from among your helpers regarding that which you are upon, "if you should be truthful."
241 - Abu Bakr narrated to us from Abu Musa, Harun ibn Hatim narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hammad narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik: "And call upon your witnesses other than Allah"—meaning your partners.
242 - al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "And call upon your witnesses"—he said: People who testify to it.
His saying: "But if you do not, and you will never be able to do it"
243 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Safwan narrated to us, al-Walid narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Bashir narrated to us, from Qatadah: "But if you do not"—meaning if you are not able, "and you will never be able to do it"—then fear the Fire.
His saying: "Then fear the Fire, whose fuel is men and stones"
244 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Usamah narrated to us, from Mis'ar, from 'Abd al-Malik ibn Maysarah, from Ibn Sabit, from 'Amr ibn Maymun, from 'Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud, who said: The stones which Allah mentioned in the Qur'an, "whose fuel is men and stones," are stones of sulfur that Allah the Exalted created with Him, as He wills.
245 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi: "Then fear the Fire, whose fuel is men and stones"—as for the stones, they are stones in the Fire made of black sulfur, with which they will be punished alongside the Fire.
246 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Abnah of 'Abd al-Malik ibn Abi Sulayman al-'Arzami narrated to us, my father narrated to us, from my grandfather, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "Then fear the Fire, whose fuel is men and stones"—he said: Stones more foul-smelling than a carcass—made of sulfur.
Abu Muhammad said: It was narrated from Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn 'Ali that he said: Stones of sulfur.
