Translation · EN

His saying: "Then He accepted his repentance; indeed, He is the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful."

412 - Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Isa narrated to us, Jarir narrated to us, from 'Umarah—meaning Ibn al-Qa'qa'—from Abu Zur'ah—meaning Ibn 'Amr ibn Jarir—who said: The first thing written was: I am the Accepting of repentance; I accept the repentance of whoever repents.

413 - Al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan al-Razi narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn 'Abd Allah al-Harawi narrated to us, Hajjaj ibn Muhammad narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, from Mujahid: "Then Adam received from his Lord [some] words," he said: O Lord, will You accept my repentance if I repent? He said: Yes. So Adam repented, and his Lord accepted his repentance.

His saying: "The Accepting of repentance, the Merciful"

414 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ishaq said regarding His saying: "The Merciful," he said: He has mercy upon the servants in accordance with their state.

415 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr: His saying: "The Merciful," he said: Merciful to them after repentance.

His saying: "We said, 'Go down from it, all of you.'"

416 - Abu Sa'id ibn Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan narrated to us, Yahya ibn Hammad narrated to us, Abu 'Awanah narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn Salim, from Abu Salih, the mawla of Umm Hani', regarding His saying: "Go down from it, all of you," he said: He means Adam, Eve, and the serpent—it was narrated from al-Suddi similar to that—and he added Iblis to it.

417 - Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, he said: Ma'mar said, and 'Awf informed me, from Qasamah, from Abu Musa, who said: When Allah the Almighty caused Adam to descend from Paradise to the Earth, He taught him the craft of everything and provided him with fruits from Paradise like these fruits of yours from Paradise, except that these change and those do not change.

418 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad ibn Talhah narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi: "Go down from it, all of you," so they went down. Adam descended in India. The Black Stone was sent down with him, and he was sent down with a handful of the leaves of Paradise, and he scattered them in India, so the fragrant trees grew. The origin of what is brought from India of fragrance is from that handful of leaves with which Adam descended. Adam had gripped them when he was brought out of Paradise out of grief for Paradise when he was brought out of it.
