anyone. So I went to the gate and said: "Has a man passed by you wearing Yemeni patterned garments?" They said: "We have seen no one." They used to narrate that it was Elias.

18418 - From Abu Ishaq al-Sabi'i, who said: A man came to 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, and said: "O Commander of the Faithful, I have committed murder, so is there any repentance for me?" He read to him: "Ha Mim. The revelation of the Book is from Allah, the Exalted in Might, the All-Knowing. The Forgiver of sin, the Accepter of repentance," and he said: "Do [good] deeds and do not despair."

His saying, the Almighty: "The Owner of bounty."

18419 - From Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both: "The Owner of bounty" means abundance and wealth.

18420 - From Thabit al-Bunani, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: I was with Mus'ab ibn al-Zubayr, may Allah be pleased with him, in the Sawad of Kufa. Suddenly, there was a man behind me on a grey mule, wearing Yemeni patterned garments. He said: "When you say: 'Accepter of repentance,' say: 'O Accepter of repentance, accept my repentance.' And when you say: 'Severe in punishment,' say: 'O Severe in punishment, do not punish me.'"

His saying, the Almighty: "None argue over the signs of Allah except those who disbelieve."

18421 - From Abu Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "None argue over the signs of Allah except those who disbelieve," that it was revealed concerning al-Harith ibn Qays al-Sulami.

His saying, the Almighty: "The Throne."

18422 - From Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Permission has been granted to me to speak about one of the angels from the bearers of the Throne: the distance between the lobe of his ear and his shoulder is a journey of seven hundred years."

18423 - By way of Abu Qubayl, that he heard 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, saying: "The bearers of the Throne are eight; the distance between the outer corner of the eye of one of them and the inner corner is a journey of five hundred years."

His saying, the Almighty: "You caused us to die twice and gave us life twice."

18424 - From Ibn 'Abbas and Ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with them, regarding His saying:
