- From Mujahid, may God be pleased with him, regarding the verse, he said: 'Scabies will be cast upon the people of the Fire, and they will scratch themselves until their bones appear. They will say: Our Lord, how did this befall us? It will be said: Because of your harming the Muslims (1).'

- Ahmad ibn Salamah narrated to us, Abu Kurayb narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Hisham narrated to us, from 'Ammar ibn Anas, from Ibn Abi Mulaykah, from 'Aishah, who said: The Messenger of God (peace be upon him) said to his companions: 'Which riba (usury/interest) is the greatest in the sight of God?' They said: 'God and His Messenger know best.' He said: 'The greatest riba in the sight of God is the legitimization of the honor of a Muslim man.' Then he recited: "And those who harm believing men and believing women for something they did not earn, have borne upon themselves a falsehood and a clear sin (2)."

- From Qatadah, may God be pleased with him, regarding the verse, he said: 'Beware of harming the believers, for God guards them and becomes angry on their behalf. It has been claimed that 'Umar ibn al-Khattab read it one day, and it alarmed him so much that he went to Ubayy ibn Ka'b, may God be pleased with him, and entered upon him. He said: O Abu al-Mundhir, I read a verse from the Book of God the Exalted, and it struck me with great impact: "And those who harm believing men and believing women." By God, I punish them and beat them. He said to him: You are not one of them; you are only an educator (3).'

- From 'Aishah, may God be pleased with her, she said: The Messenger of God (peace be upon him) said to his companions: 'Which riba is the greatest in the sight of God?' They said: 'God and His Messenger know best.' He said: 'The greatest riba in the sight of God is the legitimization of the honor of a Muslim man.' Then he recited: "And those who harm believing men and believing women for something they did not earn (4)."

His saying, the Exalted: "O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments."

- From 'Aishah, may God be pleased with her, she said: Sawdah, may God be pleased with her, went out after the hijab was prescribed, to attend to her need. She was a large woman, and she could not be hidden from those who knew her. 'Umar, may God be pleased with him, saw her and said: 'O Sawdah, by God, you are not hidden from us; so watch how you go out.' She turned back, and the Messenger of God (peace be upon him) was in my house, and he was eating dinner with a piece of meat in his hand. She entered and said: 'O Messenger of God, I went out for some of my needs, and 'Umar said to me... and so on.' Then it was revealed to him, then it was lifted from him, while the meat was still in his hand. He said: 'It has been permitted for you to go out for your needs.'
