Surah al-Jathiyah
45
His saying, the Almighty: "And He has subjected to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth - all from Him."
18535 - From Ikrimah, he said: Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, did not interpret this verse except to praise the reciter: "And He has subjected to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth - all from Him." (1)
18536 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Khalaf al-Asqalani narrated to us, al-Firyabi narrated to us, from Sufyan, from al-A'mash, from al-Minhal ibn Amr, from Abu Arakah, who said: A man asked Abdullah ibn Amr, saying: "From what was creation created?" He said: "From light, fire, darkness, and moist earth (thara)." He said: "Go to Ibn Abbas and ask him." He went to him and he said the same to him. He said: "Return to him and ask him: From what was all of that created?" So he returned to him and asked him, and he recited: "And He has subjected to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth - all from Him." (2)
18537 - From Ahmad ibn Mansur, from Shurayh ibn al-Nu'man, from Ibn Uyaynah, the like of it. Then he narrated from Yunus, from Ibn Wahb, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurayrah: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say: "Allah the Almighty says: The son of Adam curses time (al-dahr), and I am the Time; in My hand are the night and the day." (3)
His saying, the Almighty: "Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire?"
18538 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, regarding the verse: "Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire?" He said: "That is the disbeliever who took his religion without guidance from Allah or proof, and Allah let him go astray based on knowledge." He says: Allah led him astray in His prior knowledge.
