His saying, the Almighty: "Or a remnant of knowledge."

18563 - By way of Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman, from Ibn Abbas, from the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace): "Or a remnant of knowledge." He said: "Writing." (1)

18564 - From Ibn Abbas, regarding "or a remnant of knowledge," he says: "A proof from the matter." (2)

His saying, the Almighty: "Say, I am not a novelty among the messengers..." (the verse).

18565 - From Ibn Abbas, regarding "Say, I am not a novelty among the messengers," he says: "I am not the first of the messengers, and I do not know what will be done with me or with you." Then Allah revealed after it this: "That Allah may forgive for you what preceded of your sin and what will follow," and His saying: "That He may admit the believing men and the believing women to gardens..." (the verse). So Allah, glory be to Him, informed His Prophet of what He would do with him and with all the believers. (3)

His saying, the Almighty: "His mother carried him with hardship."

18566 - Muhammad ibn Ishaq ibn Yasar said, from Yazid ibn Abdullah ibn Qusayt, from Ba'jah ibn Abdullah al-Juhani, who said: A man from among us married a woman from Juhaynah, and she gave birth for him at the completion of six months. Her husband went to Uthman and mentioned that to him. He sent for her, and when she got up to put on her clothes, her sister wept. She said, "What makes you weep? By Allah, no one among the creation of Allah has had relations with me other than him, so let Allah judge concerning me as He wills." When she was brought to Uthman, he ordered her to be stoned. That reached Ali, so he came to him and said to him: "What are you doing?" He said: "She gave birth at the completion of six months, and can that be?" He said to him: "Do you not read the Quran?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Have you not heard Allah say: 'And his carriage and his weaning is thirty months,' and He said: 'two full years?'" He did not find that there remained except six months. He said: Then Uthman said: "By Allah, I did not realize this. Bring the woman to me." They found that it had been finished. He said: Ba'jah said: "By Allah, the crow is not more like a crow, nor the egg more like an egg, than he was to his father." When his father saw him, he said: "My son, by Allah, I do not doubt it." He said: "And Allah afflicted him with this 'farihah' (a type of skin disease), and it did not stop consuming him until he died."
