not more like a crow, nor the egg more like an egg, than he was to his father. When his father saw him, he said: "My son, by Allah, I do not doubt it." He said: "And Allah afflicted him with this 'farihah' (skin disease), and it did not stop consuming him until he died." (1)

His saying, the Almighty: "His carriage and his weaning."

18567 - My father narrated to us, Farwah ibn Abi al-Maghra' narrated to us, Ali ibn Mushir narrated to us, from Dawud ibn Abi Hind, from Ikrimah, from Ibn Abbas who said: "If a woman gives birth at nine months, twenty-one months of breastfeeding suffice the child. If she gives birth at seven months, twenty-three months of breastfeeding suffice him. And if she gives birth at six months, then two full years, because Allah the Almighty says: 'And his carriage and his weaning is thirty months.'" (2)

His saying, the Almighty: "They are those from whom We will accept the best of what they did..." (the verse).

18568 - My father narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Abd al-A'la al-San'ani, from al-Mu'tamir ibn Sulayman, from al-Ghitrif, from Jabir ibn Zayd, from Ibn Abbas, from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), from the Trustworthy Spirit (peace be upon him) who said: "The good deeds and evil deeds of the servant will be brought forth, and they will be settled against one another. If a good deed remains, Allah will expand the Paradise for him." He said: "I then entered upon Yazdad and he narrated a similar hadith to this." He said: "I asked, 'What if the good deed is gone?' He said: 'They are those from whom We will accept the best of what they did and overlook their misdeeds, among the companions of Paradise, the promise of truth which they had been promised.'" (3)

18569 - From al-Qasim ibn Abd al-Rahman who said: I said to Masruq (may Allah be pleased with him), "When is a man held accountable for his sins?" He said: "When you reach forty, then take your precautions." (4)

His saying, the Almighty: "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor."

18570 - From Malik ibn Mighwal who said: Abu Ma'shar complained about his son to Talhah ibn Musarrif. Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Seek help against him with this verse: 'My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor' (the verse)." (5)
