Quraysh from among those who had died. He then embraced Islam, and his conversion was sincere, so his repentance was revealed in this verse: '...And for all there are degrees from what they did.'(1)
18574 - From Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: 'The best two valleys among people are the valley of Makkah and the valley of Iram in the land of India. The worst two valleys among people are the valley of al-Ahqaf and a valley in Hadramawt called Barhut, in which the souls of the disbelievers are cast. The best well among people is Zamzam, and the worst well among people is Barhut, which is in that valley in Hadramawt.'(2)
18575 - From Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) who said: 'Al-Ahqaf is a mountain in al-Sham.'(3)

18576 - From multiple chains from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying: 'This is a cloud bringing us rain,' he said: 'It is the clouds.'(4)
His saying, the Almighty: "And We had established them in that which We have not established you in"
18577 - From Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying: 'And We had established them in that which We have not established you in,' he says: 'We have not established you in it.'(5)
His saying, the Almighty: "a group of the jinn"
18578 - Abu Abd Allah al-Tehrani narrated to us, Hafs ibn Umar al-Adani reported to us, al-Hakam ibn Aban narrated to us, from Ikrimah regarding the saying of the Almighty: 'And when We directed toward you a group of the jinn,' he said: 'They were twelve thousand who came from the island of Mosul. The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said to Ibn Mas'ud: "You almost left." He mentioned the statement of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), so he did not depart. The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said to him: "Had you left, we would not have met until the Day of Resurrection."' (6)
18579 - Abd al-Aziz ibn Umar said: 'As for the jinn who met him at Nakhlah, they were the jinn of Nineveh, and as for the jinn who met him in Makkah, they were the jinn of Nusaybin.'(7)

قُرَيْشٍ مِمَّنْ قَدْ مَاتَ. ثُمَّ أَسْلَمَ بَعْدُ فحسن إسلامه، فنزلت توبته فِي هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ وَلِكُلٍّ دَرَجَاتٌ مِمَّا عَمِلُوا «١» .
١٨٥٧٤ - عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: خَيْرُ وَادِيَيْنِ فِي النَّاسِ وَادِي مَكَّةَ وَوَادِي إِرَمَ بِأَرْضِ الْهِنْدِ، وَشَرُّ وَادِيَيْنِ فِي النَّاسِ وَادِي الأحقاف، وواد بحضرموت يدعى برهوت، يلقي في أَرْوَاحُ الْكُفَّارِ، وَخَيْرُ بِئْرٍ فِي النَّاسِ زَمْزَمُ، وَشَرُّ بِئْرٍ فِي النَّاسِ بَرْهُوتُ. وَهِيَ فِي ذَاكَ الْوَادِي الَّذِي بِحَضَرَمَوْتَ «٢» .
١٨٥٧٥ - عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: الْأَحْقَافُ جَبَلٌ بِالشَّامِ «٣» .
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: هَذَا عَارِضٌ مُمْطِرُنَا
١٨٥٧٦ - مِنْ طُرُقٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عنهما في قَوْلِهِ: هَذَا عَارِضٌ مُمْطِرُنَا قَالَ: هُوَ السَّحَابُ «٤» .
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلَقَدْ مَكَّنَّاهُمْ فِيمَا إِنْ مَكَّنَّاكُمْ فِيهِ
١٨٥٧٧ - عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَلَقَدْ مَكَّنَّاهُمْ فِيمَا إِنْ مَكَّنَّاكُمْ فِيهِ يَقُولُ: لَمْ نُمَكِّنْكُمْ فِيهِ «٥» .
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: نَفَرًا مِنَ الْجِنِّ
١٨٥٧٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الطِّهْرَانِيِّ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْعَدْنِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الحكم ابن أَبَانِ عَنْ عِكْرَمَةَ فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى: وَإِذْ صَرَفْنَا إِلَيْكَ نَفَرًا مِنَ الْجِنِّ قَالَ:
هُمُ اثْنَا عَشَرَ أَلْفًا جَاءُوا مِنْ جِزِيرَةِ الْمَوْصِلِ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- لِابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ كَادَ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ، فَذَكَرَ قَوْلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- فَلَمْ يَبْرَحْ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَوْ ذَهَبْتَ مَا الْتَقَيْنَا إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ» «٦» .
١٨٥٧٩ - قَالَ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عُمَرَ: أَمَّا الْجِنُّ الَّذِينَ لَقُوهُ بِنَخْلَةٍ فَجِنُّ نِينَوَى، وَأَمَّا الْجِنُّ الذين لقوه بمكة فجن نصيبين «٧» .
