Volume 10 · Page 172[Surah Adh-Dhariyat (51): Verse 21]

Translation · EN

and they took spoils. Then a people came after they had finished, and [the verse] "And in their wealth there was a known right for the petitioner and the deprived" was revealed.(1)

18655 - From Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) who said: The deprived (al-mahrum) is the struggling one who seeks worldly livelihood but it turns away from him, and he does not ask people, so Allah commanded the believers to provide for him.(2)

18656 - From 'Urwah who said: I asked 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) about the deprived in this verse, and she said: He is the struggling one whose livelihood is hardly made easy for him.(3)

His saying, the Almighty: "And in your own selves, will you not then see?"

18657 - From Ibn al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "And in your own selves, will you not then see?" he said: The path of excrement and urine.(4)

18658 - From al-Suddi (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "And in your own selves, will you not then see?" he said: Concerning that which enters from your food and what exits, and Allah knows best.(5)

His saying, the Almighty: "Then by the Lord of the heaven and the earth."

18659 - From al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "Then by the Lord of the heaven and the earth" (the verse), he said: It has reached me that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "May Allah fight a people for whom their Lord swore to them, yet they did not believe."(6)

His saying, the Almighty: "And they gave him good tidings of a knowing boy."

18660 - From Mujahid (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "And they gave him good tidings of a knowing boy," he said: He is Ishmael.(7)

His saying, the Almighty: "Then his wife came forward with a loud voice and struck her face."

18661 - From Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying: "Then his wife came forward with a loud voice (fi sarrah)," he said: With a cry. "And struck (fa-sakkatt)," he said: She slapped [her face].(8)

His saying, the Almighty: "And We found therein but one house of the Muslims."

18662 - From Mujahid (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "And We found therein but one house of the Muslims," he said: Lot and his two daughters.(9)
