18852 - From Ibn Abbas, who said: Whoever doubts that the gathering (al-hashr) is in al-Sham, let him read this verse: "It is He who expelled the ones who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture from their homes at the first gathering." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to them on that day: "Go out." They said: "To where?" He said: "To the land of the gathering." (1)
His saying, the Almighty: "And whatever the Messenger has given you, take it; and whatever he has forbidden you, refrain from it."
18853 - Yahya ibn Abi Talib narrated to us, Abd al-Wahhab narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah, from al-Hasan al-Awfi, from Yahya ibn al-Jazzar, from Masruq, who said: A woman came to Ibn Mas'ud and said: "It has reached me that you forbid the woman who tattoos (al-washimah) and the woman who joins hair (al-wasilah). Is this something you found in the Book of Allah or from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace?" He said: "Indeed, it is something I found in the Book of Allah and from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." She said: "By Allah, I have searched through what is between the two covers of the Mushaf, and I did not find what you say!" He said: "Did you not find in it: 'And whatever the Messenger has given you, take it; and whatever he has forbidden you, refrain from it'?" She said: "Yes." He said: "For I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbidding the woman who joins hair, the woman who tattoos, and the woman who plucks facial hair (al-namisah)." She said: "Perhaps it is among some of your family." He said: "Then enter and look." She entered, looked, then came out and said: "I saw nothing wrong." He then said to her: "Have you not memorized the testament of the righteous servant: 'And I do not intend to differ from you in that which I have forbidden you'?" (2)
