19032 - From Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, regarding "Leave Me with the one I created alone" and the subsequent verses, he said: He is al-Walīd ibn al-Mughīrah ibn Hishām al-Makhzūmī. He had thirteen children, all of whom were masters of households. When "Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate" was revealed, he continued to be in decline regarding this world in his self, his wealth, and his children until it [the decline] drove him from the world.

His (Exalted is He) saying: "I will force him up a mounting [ordeal]."

19034 - Abū Zurʿah and ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, known as ʿAllān al-Miṣrī, narrated to us; he said: Minjāb narrated to us, Sharīk informed us from ʿAmmār al-Duhnī, from ʿAṭiyyah al-ʿAwfī, from Abū Saʿīd, from the Prophet (may God bless him and grant him peace), regarding "I will force him up a mounting [ordeal] (sa-urhiquhu ṣaʿūdā)," he said: "It is a mountain in the Fire made of fire, and he is tasked with climbing it. When he places his hand [upon it], it melts, and when he raises it, it returns. When he places his foot [upon it], it melts, and when he raises it, it returns."

His (Exalted is He) saying: "extended (mamdūdā)."

19035 - From ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb (may God be pleased with him), that he was asked about His saying: "and I granted him wealth extended (wa-jaʿaltu lahu mālan mamdūdā)," he said: Yield of month by month.

19036 - From Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, from the Prophet (may God bless him and grant him peace), he said: "The ṣaʿūd is a mountain in the Fire that the disbeliever climbs for seventy autumns, then he plunges, and he shall remain like that therein forever."

19037 - From Ibn ʿAbbās, he said: Ṣaʿūd is a rock in Hell that the disbeliever is dragged upon on his face.

His (Exalted is He) saying: "scorching (lawwāḥah)."

19038 - Through the path of ʿAlī, from Ibn ʿAbbās, "scorching (lawwāḥah)" means burning.

His (Exalted is He) saying: "Over it are nineteen [angels]."

19039 - From al-Barāʾ, that a group of Jews asked a man from the companions of the Prophet (may God bless him and grant him peace) about the keepers of Hell. He said: "God and His Messenger know best." He then came and informed the Prophet (may God bless him and grant him peace), and at that moment "Over it are nineteen" was revealed upon him.
