19066 - From Mūsā ibn Ṣāliḥ ibn al-Ṣabbāḥ (may God be pleased with him) who said: When the Day of Resurrection comes, the people of God's guardianship (walāyah) will be brought forward and they will stand before Him in three classes. A man from the first class will be brought forward, and He will say: "My servant, for what did you act?" He will say: "O Lord, You created Paradise, its trees, its hur, its bliss, and what You have prepared therein for the people of Your obedience. So I kept my nights awake and my days thirsty out of longing for it." He will say: "My servant, you acted only for Paradise, so enter it. And it is from My bounty upon you that I deliver you from the Fire." So he and those with him enter it. Then a man from the second class will be brought forward, and He will say: "My servant, for what did you act?"
He will say: "O Lord, You created the Fire, You created its shackles, its scorching heat, its hot wind, its black smoke, and what You have prepared therein for Your enemies and for the people of Your disobedience. So I kept my nights awake and my days thirsty out of fear of it." He will say: "My servant, you acted only out of fear of the Fire, so I have delivered you from the Fire. And it is from My bounty upon you that I cause you to enter My Paradise." So he and those with him enter Paradise. Then a man from the third class will be brought forward, and He will say: "My servant, and for what did you act?" He will say: "My Lord, out of love for You and longing for You. By Your might, I indeed kept my nights awake and my days thirsty out of longing for You and love for You." God will say: "My servant, you acted only out of longing for Me and love for Me." Then the Lord will manifest Himself to him and say: "Here I am, look upon Me." Then He says: "It is My bounty upon you that I deliver you from the Fire, permit you into My Paradise, let you visit My angels, and greet you with My own Self." So he and those with him enter Paradise.
His (Exalted is He) saying: "Who is a healer?"
19067 - My father narrated to us, Naṣr ibn ʿAlī narrated to us, Rawḥ ibn al-Musayyab Abū Rajāʾ al-Kalbī narrated to us, ʿAmr ibn Mālik narrated to us, from Abū al-Jawzāʾ, from Ibn ʿAbbās regarding "Who is a healer?" He said: It is asked, who will ascend with his soul? The angels of mercy or the angels of punishment? According to this, it is the speech of the angels.
His (Exalted is He) saying: "And the leg is wound about the leg"
19068 - With this same chain of narration, from Ibn ʿAbbās regarding His saying: "And the leg is wound about the leg," he said: The world and the Hereafter are joined together for him. Likewise, ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭalḥah said from Ibn ʿAbbās regarding "And the leg is wound about the leg": He means the last day of the days of this world and the first day of the days of the Hereafter, so intensity meets with intensity, except for whom God has shown mercy.
