His (Exalted is He) saying: "Those who pull out, plunging (deeply)"

19110 - By way of Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ʿAbbās, regarding His saying: "And those who pull out, plunging (deeply)," he said: "They are the souls of the disbelievers that are pulled out, then spurred on, then plunged into the Fire."

His (Exalted is He) saying: "And those who release, releasing"

19111 - From Ibn ʿAbbās, "And those who release, releasing," he said: "It is death."

His (Exalted is He) saying: "And those who swim, swimming"

19113 - From al-Rabīʿ ibn Anas, regarding His saying: "And those who pull out, plunging (deeply), and those who release, releasing," he said: "These two verses are for the disbelievers; upon the drawing of the soul, it is pulled out violently, like a metal spit in raw wool, so its exit is severe. 'And those who swim, swimming, and those who press forward, racing,' he said: 'These two are for the believers.'"

19114 - From al-Suddī, regarding His saying: "And those who pull out, plunging (deeply)," he said: "The soul when it plunges into the chests. 'And those who release, releasing,' he said: 'The angels when they release the spirit from the fingers and the feet. And those who swim, swimming,' when the soul swims in the body, hesitating about death."

19115 - From Ibn Masʿūd, regarding His saying: "And those who pull out, plunging (deeply)," he said: "The angels who draw the souls of the disbelievers." Up to His saying: "And those who swim, swimming," he said: "The angels."

His (Exalted is He) saying: "And those who arrange the command"

19116 - From ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib, that Ibn al-Kawwāʾ asked him about "Those who arrange the command," he said: "The angels who arrange the remembrance of the Most Merciful and His command."

19117 - From ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Sābiṭ, he said: "Four govern the affairs of the world: Jibrīl (Gabriel), Mīkāʾīl (Michael), the Angel of Death, and Isrāfīl (Raphael). As for Jibrīl, he is entrusted with the winds and the hosts; as for Mīkāʾīl, he is entrusted..."
