His (Exalted is He) saying: "He frowned and turned away, because there came to him the blind man."
19125 - From Ibn ʿAbbās, regarding His saying: "He frowned and turned away, because there came to him the blind man," he said: "While the Messenger of Allāh (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) was in private conversation with ʿUtbah ibn Rabīʿah, Abū Jahl ibn Hishām, and al-ʿAbbās ibn ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib—and he would frequently approach them and desire for them to believe—a blind man came to him, called ʿAbd Allāh ibn Umm Maktūm, walking while he (the Prophet) was conversing with them. ʿAbd Allāh began to ask the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) to recite a verse from the Qurʾān, and said: 'O Messenger of Allāh, teach me from what Allāh has taught you.' The Messenger of Allāh (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) turned away from him, frowned in his face, turned his back, disliked his speech, and turned his attention to the others. When the Messenger of Allāh (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) finished and spoke to him, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: 'What is your need? Is there anything you want?' And when he went away from him, he said: 'Do you have a need for anything?' That was when Allāh (Exalted is He) revealed: 'As for him who considers himself self-sufficient, to him you give attention; and what is it to you if he is not purified?'"
His (Exalted is He) saying: "Has not yet accomplished what He commanded him."
19126 - And from the path of Ibn Abī Najīḥ from Mujāhid, regarding His saying: "Nay, but he has not yet accomplished what He commanded him," he said: "No one will ever completely fulfill everything that has been obligated upon him."
19127 - From Wahb ibn Munabbih, he said: "ʿUzayr (peace be upon him) said: 'The angel who came to me said: "For the graves are the womb of the earth, and the earth is the mother of creation. So when Allāh creates what He wills to create, and these graves which Allāh has extended for them are completed, the life of this world will be cut off, those upon it will die, the earth will cast out what is in its belly, and the graves will bring out what is within them.""
