His saying, the Almighty: "Shall We requite any but the ungrateful?"
17894 - From Tawus, regarding [the verse] "Shall We requite any but the ungrateful?" he said: It is the rigorous examination of the account, and whoever has their account examined will be punished. He is the disbeliever who will not be forgiven.
17895 - From al-Hasan, regarding His saying: "And We placed between them and the cities which We had blessed, visible cities," he said: Between Yemen and the Levant were connected cities, and the cities which We had blessed are the Levant. A man would set out early and arrive in one city, then set out in the evening and spend the night in another city. A woman would leave with her basket upon her head, and she would not reach [her destination] until it was filled with all kinds of fruits.
His saying, the Almighty: "...except that We might distinguish"
17896 - From Qatada, may God be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "...except that We might distinguish," he said: It was only a building so that God might distinguish the disbeliever from the believer.
17897 - From Muhammad ibn Ka'b, regarding His saying: "to all of mankind," he said: To the people in general.
His saying, the Almighty: "And it is not your wealth nor your children that bring you near to Us in position..." the verse.
17898 - From Qatada, regarding the verse, he said: Do not judge people by the abundance of wealth and children, for the disbeliever is given wealth, and perhaps He withholds it from the believer.
17899 - From Tawus, that he used to say: O God, provide me with faith and deeds, and keep me away from wealth and children, for I have heard in that which You have revealed: "And it is not your wealth nor your children that bring you near to Us in position."
His saying, the Almighty: "...and whatsoever you spend of anything, He will replace it."
17900 - From Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: "...and whatsoever you spend of anything, He will replace it," he said: In [matters of] neither extravagance nor stinginess.

قوله تعالى: هل نُجَازِي إِلا الْكَفُور
١٧٨٩٤ - عَنْ طَاوُسٍ وَهَلْ نُجَازِي إِلا الْكَفُورَ قَالَ: هُوَ الْمُنَاقَشَةُ فِي الْحِسَابِ، وَمَنْ نُوقِشَ الْحِسَابَ عُذِّبَ، وَهُوَ الْكَافِرُ لَا يُغْفَرُ لَهُ «١» .
١٧٨٩٥ - عَنِ الْحَسَنِ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَجَعَلْنَا بَيْنَهُمْ وَبَيْنَ الْقُرَى الَّتِي بَارَكْنَا فِيهَا قُرًى ظَاهِرَةً قَالَ: كَانَ فِيمَا بَيْنَ الْيَمَنِ إِلَى الشَّامِ قرى متواصلة والقرى الَّتِي بَارَكْنَا فِيهَا الشَّامُ. كَانَ الرَّجُلُ يَغْدُو فَيُقْبِلُ فِي الْقَرْيَةِ، ثُمَّ يَرُوحُ فَيَبِيتُ فِي الْقَرْيَةِ الْأُخْرَى وَكَانَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ تَخْرُجُ وَزَنْبِيلُهَا عَلَى رَأْسِهَا، فَمَا تَبْلَغُ حَتَّى يَمْتَلِئَ مِنْ كُلِّ الثِّمَارِ «٢» .
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: إِلا لِنَعْلَمَ
١٧٨٩٦ - عَنْ قَتَادَة رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فِي قَوْلِهِ: إِلا لِنَعْلَمَ قَالَ: إِنَّمَا كَانَ بِنَاءٌ لِيَعْلَمَ اللَّهُ الْكَافِرَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِ «٣» .
١٧٨٩٧ - عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ فِي قوله: كافة للناس قَالَ: لِلنَّاسِ عَامَّةً «٤» .
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَمَا أَمَوَالُكُمْ ولا أولادكم بالتي تقربكم عندنا زلفى ... الآية
١٧٨٩٨ - عَنْ قَتَادَةَ فِي الْآيَةِ قَالَ لَا تَعْتَبِرُوا النَّاسَ بِكَثْرَةِ الْمَالِ وَالْوَلَدِ، وَإِنَّ الْكَافِرَ يُعْطَى الْمَالَ وَرُبَّمَا حَبَسَهُ عَنِ الْمُؤْمِنِ «٥» .
١٧٨٩٩ - عَنْ طَاوُسٍ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ: اللَّهُمَّ ارْزُقْنِي الْإِيْمَانَ وَالْعَمَلَ، وَجَنِّبْنِي الْمَالَ وَالْوَلَدَ، فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ فِيمَا أَوْحَيْتَ وَمَا أَمْوَالُكُمْ وَلا أَوْلادُكُمْ بِالَّتِي تُقَرِّبُكُمْ عِنْدَنَا زُلْفَى «٦» .
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَمَا أَنْفَقْتُمْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَهُوَ يُخْلِفُهُ
١٧٩٠٠ - عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهِمَا فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَمَا أَنْفَقْتُمْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَهُوَ يُخْلِفُهُ قَالَ: فِي غَيْرِ إِسْرَافٍ وَلا تقتير «٧» .
