His statement, the Exalted: "But you prefer the worldly life."
19242 - On the authority of ʿIkrimah regarding "But you prefer the worldly life," he said: He means this nation, and that you will prefer the worldly life.
His statement, the Exalted: "Indeed, this is in the former scriptures."
19243 - On the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allāh be pleased with them both) regarding His statement: "Indeed, this is in the former scriptures," he said: This Sūrah was transcribed from the scriptures of Ibrāhīm and Mūsā.
19244 - On the authority of al-Suddī that this Sūrah is in the scriptures of Ibrāhīm and Mūsā just as it was revealed to the Prophet (may Allāh bless him and grant him peace).
19245 - On the authority of Abū al-ʿĀliyah (may Allāh be pleased with him) regarding "Indeed, this is in the former scriptures," he says: The story of this Sūrah is in the former scriptures.
19246 - On the authority of Qatādah (may Allāh be pleased with him) regarding "Indeed, this is in the former scriptures," he said: The books of Allāh have followed one another just as you hear: "While the Hereafter is better and more enduring."
19247 - On the authority of Qatādah (may Allāh be pleased with him) regarding the verse "Indeed, this is in the former scriptures," he said: In the former scriptures [it says] that the Hereafter is better than the worldly life.
19248 - On the authority of al-Ḥasan (may Allāh be pleased with him) regarding "Indeed, this is in the former scriptures," he said: In all of the books of Allāh.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا
١٩٢٤٢ - عَنْ عِكْرَمَةَ بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا قَالَ: يَعْنِي هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةَ، وَإِنَّكُمْ سَتُؤْثِرُونَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا «١» .
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: إِنَّ هَذَا لَفِي الصُّحُفِ الأُولَى
١٩٢٤٣ - عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا في قوله: إِنَّ هَذَا لَفِي الصُّحُفِ الْأُولَى قَالَ: نُسِخَتْ هَذِهِ السُّورَةُ مِنْ صُحُفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمُوسَى «٢» .
١٩٢٤٤ - عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ أَنَّ هَذِهِ السُّورَةَ فِي صُحُفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمُوسَى مِثْلُ مَا نَزَلَتْ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ «٣» .
١٩٢٤٥ - عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَّةِ رضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ إِنَّ هَذَا لَفِي الصُّحُفِ الْأُولَى يَقُولُ: قِصَّةُ هَذِهِ السُّورَةِ فِي الصُّحُفِ الْأُولَى «٤» .
١٩٢٤٦ - عَنْ قَتَادَةَ رضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ إِنَّ هَذَا لَفِي الصُّحُفِ الْأُولَى قَالَ: تَتَابَعَتْ كُتُبُ اللَّهِ كَمَا تَسْمَعُونَ إِنَّ الْآخِرَةَ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَى «٥» .
١٩٢٤٧ - عَنْ قَتَادَةَ رضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ إِنَّ هَذَا لَفِي الصُّحُفِ الْأُولَى الْآيَةَ قَالَ:
فِي الصُّحُفِ الْأُوْلَى إِنَّ الْآخِرَةَ خَيْرٌ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا «٦» .
١٩٢٤٨ - عَنِ الْحَسَنِ رضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ إِنَّ هَذَا لَفِي الصُّحُفِ الأولى قال: في كتب الله كلها «٧» .
