Sūrat al-Fajr
His statement, the Exalted: "By the dawn."
19229 - On the authority of ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Zubayr regarding His statement: "By the dawn," he said: An oath by which Allāh swore. (1)
19230 - On the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās regarding His statement: "By the dawn," he said: The dawn of the day. (2)
19231 - On the authority of ʿIkrimah regarding His statement: "By the dawn," he said: It is the morning. (3)
19232 - On the authority of Mujāhid regarding His statement: "By the dawn," he said: The dawn of the Day of Sacrifice (Yawm al-Naḥr), not every dawn. (4)
His statement, the Exalted: "And [by] ten nights."
19233 - On the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās regarding His statement: "And [by] ten nights," he said: The ten of al-Aḍḥā. In another wording, he said: They are the first ten nights of Dhū al-Ḥijjah—regarding His statement: "And [by] ten nights," he said: The beginning of Dhū al-Ḥijjah until the Day of Sacrifice. (5)
19234 - On the authority of Masrūq regarding His statement: "And [by] ten nights," he said: They are the ten of al-Aḍḥā; they are the best days of the year. (6)
19235 - On the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās regarding His statement: "And [by] ten nights," he said: They are the last ten nights of Ramaḍān. (7)
His statement, the Exalted: "And [by] the even and the odd."
19236 - On the authority of ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) was asked about "the even and the odd," and he said: "It is the prayer; some of it is even and some of it is odd." (8)
19237 - On the authority of Abū al-ʿĀliyah regarding "the even and the odd," he said: That is the Maghrib prayer; the even is the two rakʿahs, and the odd is the third rakʿah. (9)
