19420 - Zayd b. Ismāʿīl al-Ṣāʾigh narrated to us, Jaʿfar b. ʿAwn narrated to us, Abū ʿUmays narrated to us, from ʿAwn, who said: ʿAbd Allāh said: There are two who are insatiable: the seeker of knowledge and the seeker of the world, and they are not equal. As for the seeker of knowledge, he increases in the pleasure of the Most Merciful. As for the seeker of the world, he continues in transgression. He said: Then ʿAbd Allāh recited: "No! [But] indeed, mankind transgresses. Because he sees himself self-sufficient." And he said regarding the other [group]: "Only those fear Allah, from among His servants, who have knowledge."

His saying, the Almighty: "We will call the angels of Hell."

19421 - On the authority of ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Ḥārith, he said: The Zabāniyah (angels of Hell) have their feet on the earth and their heads in the sky.

[His saying, the Almighty: "We will surely drag him by the forelock."]

19422 - On the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās regarding His saying: "We will surely drag him (la-nasfaʿan)," he said: We will surely seize him by it.

His saying, the Almighty: "But fall prostrate and draw near [unto Allah]."

19423 - On the authority of Zayd b. Aslam, he said: "But fall prostrate"—you, O Muḥammad—"and draw near"—you, O Abū Jahl—threatening him.
