Translation · EN

the man's striking [of the flint] is the striking (qadh), so he produced fire. "And the ones that charge at dawn," he said: The horses charged at dawn. "And stir up dust thereby," he said: The dust of the impact of the horses' hooves. "And penetrate into the midst thereof as a group," he said: The gathering of the enemy. ʿAmr said:

ʿUbayd ibn ʿUmayr used to say: It is the camels.

The saying of the Exalted: "Indeed, man is ungrateful to his Lord."

19445 - From Ibn ʿAbbās, who said: "Al-Kanūd" (the ungrateful) in our dialect, we people of the land, is: "Al-Kafūr" (the disbeliever).

19446 - From al-Ḥasan, regarding "Indeed, man is ungrateful to his Lord," he said: He is very ungrateful; he counts the afflictions and forgets the blessings of his Lord, the Mighty and Majestic.

The saying of the Exalted: "And indeed, he is a witness to that."

19447 - From Mujāhid, regarding "And indeed, he is a witness to that," he said: Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.

The saying of the Exalted: "And indeed, for the love of wealth..."

19448 - From Muḥammad ibn Kaʿb, regarding "And indeed, he is a witness to that," he said: Man is a witness against himself. "But does he not know when that which is in the graves is scattered?" He said: When they are resurrected.

The saying of the Exalted: "The Striking Calamity (al-Qāriʿah)."

19449 - From Ibn ʿAbbās, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: Al-Qāriʿah is one of the names of the Day of Resurrection.

The saying of the Exalted: "His mother will be a bottomless pit (Hāwiyah)."

19450 - From Ibn Khālid al-Wālibī, regarding "His mother will be a bottomless pit," he said: The top of his head. From ʿIkrimah, he said: The top of his head is falling into Hellfire.
