His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, Satan is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy."
17929 - From Qatada, may God be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "Indeed, Satan is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy," he said: Treat him as an enemy, for it is incumbent upon every Muslim to show him enmity, and his enmity is for one to oppose him through obedience to God. And regarding His saying: "He only invites his party," he said: His allies, so that they may be among the companions of the Blaze, meaning so that he may drive them into the Fire; this is his enmity.
17930 - From Ibn Zayd, may God be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "He only invites his party," the verse. He said: He invites his party to the acts of disobedience to God, and the people of disobedience to God are the companions of the Blaze. These are his party from among mankind; do you not see Him say: "Those are the party of Satan"? He said: And the party is the alliance of those whom he takes as allies and who take him as an ally.
His saying, the Almighty: "Then is he to whom the evil of his deed has been made attractive so that he considers it good?"
17931 - From Abu Qilaba that he was asked about this verse: "Then is he to whom the evil of his deed has been made attractive so that he considers it good?" Are they these workers of ours who do what they do? He said: They are not. Indeed, there is not one of them who commits anything that is not lawful for him without knowing that it is forbidden for him. If he commits adultery, it is forbidden, or if he kills a soul, it is forbidden. Rather, those are the people of the religious communities: the Jews, the Christians, and the Magians. And I think the Khawarij are among them, because the Khariji draws his sword against all the people of Basra, and he knows that he will not achieve his need from them and that they will surely kill him; and were it not that he considers it part of his religion, he would not have done that.
17932 - My father narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Awf al-Himsi narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Kathir narrated to us, from al-Awza'i, from Yahya ibn Abi 'Amr al-Shaybani, or Abu Rabi'a, from 'Abd Allah ibn al-Daylami, who said: I came to 'Abd Allah ibn 'Amr while he was in an orchard in al-Ta'if called al-Wahth. He said: I heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, say: "Indeed, God created His creation in darkness, then He cast upon them some of His light. So whoever was touched by His light on that day is guided, and whoever missed it went astray. Therefore, I say: The Pen has dried upon what God, the Almighty and Majestic, has known." Then he said: Yahya ibn 'Abdaka al-Qazwini narrated to me, he said: Hassan ibn Hassan al-Basri narrated to us, he said: Ibrahim ibn Bashir narrated to us, he said: Yahya ibn Ma'n narrated to us, he said: Ibrahim al-Qurashi narrated to us, from Sa'id ibn Shurahbil, from Zayd ibn Abi Awfa, who said: There came out to us...
