Abu Bakr, I have chosen [to believe] that your companion has satirized me?" He replied: "No, by the Lord of this House, he has not satirized you." So she turned away, saying: "Quraysh knows that I am the daughter of its master."
19523- From Ibn ʿAbbās, he said: When "And warn your closest kindred and your kin from among them who are sincere" was revealed, the Prophet (ﷺ) went out until he ascended al-Ṣafā, and he cried out: "Yā ṣabāḥāh [O danger of the morning]!" They gathered around him, so he said: "Do you see, if I were to inform you that horses were emerging at the base of this mountain, would you believe me?" They replied: "We have never experienced any lying from you." He said: "Then I am a warner to you before the presence of a [severe] punishment." Abū Lahab said: "Woe to you! Did you only gather us for this?" Then he stood up, and this surah was revealed: "Perish the two hands of Abū Lahab and perish [he]."
His saying, the Exalted: "Perish the two hands of Abū Lahab."
19524- From Ibn ʿAbbās regarding "Perish the two hands of Abū Lahab," he said: [meaning] "They are lost," and regarding "and perish," he said: "He is lost."
19525- From al-Ḥasan, he said: He was only called Abū Lahab because of his beauty.
19526- From ʿĀʾishah, she said: The most wholesome thing a man eats is from his own earnings, and his son is from his earnings. Then she recited: "His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained," and she said: "What he gained is his son."
His saying, the Exalted: "His wife, the carrier of firewood."
19527- From Ibn Zayd regarding his saying: "And his wife, the carrier of firewood," he said: She used to bring thorny branches and throw them at night on the path of the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ).
19528- From Mujāhid (may Allāh be pleased with him) regarding his saying: "And his wife, the carrier of firewood," he said: She used to walk with gossip; in her neck is a rope of twisted fiber from fire.
19529- From Qatādah regarding "And his wife, the carrier of firewood," he said: She used to convey talk from some people to others; "in her neck is a rope," he said: her neck.
19530- From al-Ḥasan regarding his saying: "The carrier of firewood," [meaning] she used to carry gossip and bring it to the clans of Quraysh.
His saying, the Exalted: "A rope of twisted fiber."
19531- From ʿUrwah b. al-Zubayr regarding his saying: "In her neck is a rope of twisted fiber," he said: A chain of iron from fire, the length of which is seventy cubits.

أبا بكر اني اخترت أَنَّ صَاحِبَكَ هَجَانِي؟ قَالَ: لَا وَرَبِّ هَذَا الْبَيْتِ مَا هَجَاكِ، فَوَلَّتْ وَهِيَ تَقُولُ: قَدْ عَلِمَتْ قُرَيْشٌ أَنِّي ابْنَةُ سَيِّدِهَا «١» .
١٩٥٢٣ - عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ وَرَهْطَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلِصِينَ، خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى صَعِدَ الصَّفَا فَهَتَفَ يَا صَبَاحَاهُ فَاجْتَمَعُوا إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ: «أَرَأَيْتُكُمْ لَوْ أَخْبَرْتُكُمْ أَنَّ خَيْلًا تَخْرُجُ بِسَفْحِ هَذَا الْجَبَلِ أَكَنْتُمْ مُصَدِّقِيَّ؟ قَالُوا مَا جَرَّبْنَا عَلَيْكَ كَذِبًا، قَالَ فَإِنِّي نَذِيرٌ لَكُمْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ عَذَابٍ، فَقَالَ أَبُو لَهَبٍ: تَبًّا لَكَ إِنَّمَا جَمَعْتَنَا لِهَذَا؟
ثُمَّ قَامَ فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ السُّورَةُ تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ «٢» .
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ
١٩٥٢٤ - عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ قَالَ خَسِرَتْ وَتَبَّ قَالَ خَسِرَ «٣» .
١٩٥٢٥ - عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ إِنَّمَا سُمِّيَ أَبَا لَهَبٍ مِنْ حُسْنِهِ «٤» .
١٩٥٢٦ - عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ أَطْيَبُ مَا أَكَلَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ كَسْبِهِ، وَإِنَّ ابْنَهُ مِنْ كَسَبِهِ ثُمَّ قَرَأَتْ: مَا أَغْنَى عَنْهُ مَالُهُ وَمَا كَسَبَ قَالَتْ وَمَا كَسَبَ وَلَدُهُ «٥» .
قوله تعالى: امرأته حَمَّالَةَ الْحَطَبِ
١٩٥٢٧ - عَنِ ابْنِ زَيْدٍ قَوْلُهُ: وَامْرَأَتُهُ حَمَّالَةَ الْحَطَبِ قَالَ: كَانَتْ تَأْتِي بِأَغْصَانِ الشَّوْكِ، وَتَطْرَحُهَا بِاللَّيْلِ فِي طَرِيقِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) «٦» .
١٩٥٢٨ - عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ رضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَوْلُهُ: وَامْرَأَتُهُ حَمَّالَةَ الْحَطَبِ قَالَ كَانَتْ تَمْشِي بِالنَّمِيمَةِ فِي جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِنْ مَسَدٍ مِنْ نَارٍ «٧» .
١٩٥٢٩ - عَنْ قَتَادَةَ وَامْرَأَتُهُ حَمَّالَةَ الْحَطَبِ قَالَ: كَانَتْ تَنْقُلُ الْأَحَادِيثَ مِنْ بَعْضِ النَّاسِ إِلَى بَعْضٍ فِي جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ قَالَ عُنُقُهَا «٨» .
١٩٥٣٠ - عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَوْلُهُ: حَمَّالَةَ الْحَطَبِ كَانَتْ تَحْمِلُ النَّمِيمَةَ فَتَأْتِي بِهَا بُطُونَ قُرَيْشٍ
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: حَبْلٌ مِنْ مَسَدٍ
١٩٥٣١ - عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ فِي قَوْلِهِ: فِي جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِنْ مَسَدٍ قَالَ سِلْسِلَةٌ مِنْ حَدِيدٍ مِنْ نَارٍ ذَرَعُهَا سبعون ذراعا.
