Tafsir Ibn Abi Hatim
Volume 10 · Page 37His saying (Most High): 'And from each you eat tender meat'

Translation · EN

17960 - From Sinan ibn Salamah that he asked Ibn 'Abbas about seawater, and he said: They are two seas, and it does not harm you from whichever of the two you perform ablution: the seawater or the water of the Euphrates.

His saying, the Almighty: "And from each you eat tender meat"

17961 - From al-Suddi regarding His saying: "And from each you eat tender meat"—he said: It is fish. "And extract ornaments which you wear"—he said: It is pearls from the salt sea.

His saying, the Almighty: "They do not possess even a qitmir"

17962 - From Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "They do not possess even a qitmir"—he said: The qitmir is the husk, and in one wording: the skin that is on the back of a date stone.

17963 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "qitmir"—he said: The covering of the date stone, like the skin of an onion.

His saying, the Almighty: "If you call upon them, they do not hear your supplication, and if they were to hear, they could not respond to you"

17964 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "If you call upon them, they do not hear your supplication, and if they were to hear, they could not respond to you"—he said: Meaning they would not accept that from you. "And on the Day of Resurrection they will deny your association"—he said: They will not be pleased with it, nor will they acknowledge it. "And none can inform you like one who is All-Aware"—and God is the All-Aware, that this will indeed be their affair on the Day of Resurrection.

17965 - From al-Suddi regarding His saying: "If you call upon them, they do not hear your supplication"—he said: They are the idols; they do not hear the supplication of those who called upon them and worshipped them besides God, the Almighty. "And if they were to hear, they could not respond to you"—he said: And if the idols were to hear your supplication, they would not respond to you with anything of good. "And on the Day of Resurrection they will deny your association"—he said: By your worship of them.

His saying, the Almighty: "And if a burdened soul calls another to carry some of its load, nothing of it will be carried"

17966 - From 'Ata' al-Khurasani regarding His saying: "And if a burdened soul calls another to carry some of its load"—he said: If a soul burdened with sins calls a relative or a non-relative, nothing of its sins will be carried for it.
