[...so that] He may pay them their rewards in full and increase them from His bounty. He said: It is like His saying: "And with Us is more." "Indeed, He is Forgiving"—he said: for their sins; "Appreciative"—for their good deeds.
17984 - From al-Suddi regarding His saying: "They hope for a trade that will never perish"—he said: It will never be ruined.
His saying, the Almighty: "Then We caused to inherit the Book those We have chosen of Our servants."
17985 - From Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Then We caused to inherit the Book those We have chosen of Our servants"—he said: They are the nation of Muhammad (may God bless him and grant him peace). God caused them to inherit every Book that was revealed; so those of them who are wrongdoers to themselves are forgiven, those who are moderate among them are reckoned with an easy account, and those who are foremost among them enter Paradise without any account.
His saying, the Almighty: "And among them is one who wrongs himself, and among them is one who is moderate."
17986 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: 'Ali ibn Hashim ibn Marzuq narrated to us, [saying]: Ibn 'Uyaynah narrated to us, from 'Amr, from Ibn 'Abbas (may God be pleased with them both) regarding "And among them is one who wrongs himself"—he said: He is the disbeliever.
17987 - Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, [saying]: Shu'bah narrated to us, from al-Walid ibn al-'Ayzar: that he heard a man from Thaqif narrating from a man from Kinanah, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may God be pleased with him), from the Prophet (may God bless him and grant him peace) that he said regarding this verse: "Then We caused to inherit the Book those We have chosen of Our servants. And among them is one who wrongs himself, and among them is one who is moderate, and among them is one who is foremost in good deeds by permission of Allah"—he said: These are all at one status, and they are all in Paradise.
17988 - Muhammad ibn 'Aziz narrated to us, [saying]: Salamah narrated to us, from 'Uqayl, from Ibn Shihab, from 'Awf, from the Messenger of God (may God bless him and grant him peace) that he said: "My nation consists of three thirds: a third will enter Paradise without account and without torment—they are reckoned with an easy account then enter Paradise; a third will be purified and exposed; then the angels will come and say: We found them saying: 'There is no god but God Alone.' God the Almighty will say: They have spoken the truth; there is no god but Me. Admit them into Paradise by their saying 'There is no god but God Alone,' and carry their sins over to the people of the Fire. And this is that which God the Almighty said: 'And they will surely bear their own burdens and other burdens along with their burdens.' And the confirmation of this is in that which mentions the angels. God the Almighty said: 'Then We caused to inherit the Book those We have chosen of Our servants,' so He divided them into three types, and they are all categories. Among them is one who wrongs himself, and this is the one who is exposed and purified."
