His saying, the Almighty: 'Ya-Sin. By the Qur'an, the Wise.'

18024 - From Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: 'Ya-Sin,' he said: O Human.

18025 - From Ashhab, he said: I asked Malik ibn Anas, "Is it appropriate for anyone to be named Ya-Sin?" He replied, "I do not see that it is appropriate, because of His saying: 'Ya-Sin. By the Qur'an, the Wise.' It is as if He is saying: This is My name; be named by it."

18026 - From al-Hasan regarding the saying of Allah: 'Ya-Sin. By the Qur'an, the Wise,' he said: Allah swears by whatever He wills. Then he referred to this verse: 'Peace be upon the family of Ya-Sin,' as if he held the view that it was a greeting to His Messenger.

18027 - From Yahya ibn Abi Kathir regarding His saying: 'Ya-Sin. By the Qur'an, the Wise,' he said: He swears by one thousand scholars that you are indeed of the messengers.

His saying: 'The word has come to pass upon most of them.'

18028 - From al-Dahhak (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: 'The word has come to pass upon most of them,' he said: It preceded in His knowledge.

His saying: 'And We have covered them, so they do not see.'

18029 - From Muhammad ibn Ka'b al-Qurazi, he said: Quraysh gathered—and among them was Abu Jahl—at the door of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). They said at his door: "Muhammad claims that if you pledge allegiance to him regarding his affair, you would be kings of the Arabs and non-Arabs, and you would be resurrected after your death, and a fire would be set for you in which you would be burned." The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) came out and took a handful of dust in his hand and said: "Yes, I say that, and you are one of them." Allah seized their sight so they did not see him. He began scattering that dust over their heads, and he was reciting these verses: 'Ya-Sin. By the Qur'an, the Wise,' up to His saying: 'And We have covered them, so they do not see.' When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) finished these verses, not a man remained but that he had placed dust on his head. So every man among them placed his hand on his head and found dust upon it, and they said: "The one who spoke to us has indeed told us the truth."
