18057 - From Ibn Mas'ud regarding his saying: "And We did not send down upon his people..." he said: I did not seek the aid of soldiers from the heaven or from the earth against them.

His saying, the Exalted: "It was not but one shout."

18058 - From Ibn Sirin, he said: In the recitation of Ibn Mas'ud: "It was not but one single crushing sound (ritqa)," and in our recitation: "It was not but one shout (sayha)."

His saying, the Exalted: "And behold, they were extinguished."

18059 - From al-Suddi, regarding his saying: "And behold, they were extinguished," he said: They became still.

His saying, the Exalted: "O, the regret for the servants."

18060 - From Ibn 'Abbas regarding his saying: "O, the regret for the servants," he says: O, woe to the servants.

18061 - From Mujahid, "O, the regret for the servants," he said: Their mockery of the messengers was a regret for them.

18062 - From Qatada regarding his saying: "O, the regret for the servants," it is the regret of the servants for their own selves for what they wasted of the command of Allah and what they neglected regarding Allah, the Exalted. He said: And in some recitations it is: "O, the regret of the servants for their own selves; there does not come to them any messenger."

18063 - From Ibn 'Abbas regarding his saying: "O, the regret for the servants," he said: It is the remorse for the servants who, whenever a messenger came to them, would mock him. He says: The remorse is upon them until the Day of Resurrection.

18064 - From Mujahid regarding his saying: "O, the regret for the servants," he said: O, the regret for them.
