of those sins, and his betrayal will appear, and he will wish that all people could see it. The disbeliever and the hypocrite will be called for the reckoning, and his Lord will present his deeds to him, but he will deny it and say: 'O my Lord, by Your might, this angel has written against me what I did not do.' The angel will say to him: 'Did you not do such and such on such a day in such a place?'

He will say: 'No, by Your might, O my Lord, I did not do it.' When he does that, his mouth will be sealed. I think the first part of him to speak will be his right thigh, then he recited: 'This Day, We will seal their mouths.'

18099 - From al-Suddi, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: 'We will seal their mouths,' he said: 'They will not speak.'

18100 - From Qatadah, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding the verse, he said: 'There were disputes and talking, and this was the end of it, that their mouths were sealed.'

His saying, the Exalted: 'And if We willed, We could have blotted out their eyes.'

18101 - From Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: 'And if We willed, We could have blotted out their eyes,' he said: 'We would have blinded them and led them astray from guidance, so how would they see?' Meaning, how would they be guided?

His saying: 'Then they would race to the path.'

18102 - From Mujahid, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: 'Then they would race to the path,' he said: 'The way; but how would they see, and We have blotted out their eyes?'

His saying, the Exalted: 'And if We willed, We could have transformed them.'

18103 - From Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: 'And if We willed, We could have transformed them,' he said: 'We would have destroyed them in their places.' He said: 'In their dwellings.'

18104 - From Abu Salih, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: 'And if We willed, We could have transformed them,' he says: 'We would have turned them into stones.'

18105 - From al-Hasan, regarding His saying: 'And if We willed, We could have blotted out...' he said: 'If Allah willed, He would have left them blind, wandering about. And if We willed, We could have transformed them in their places,' he said: 'If We willed, We would have made them crippled, unable to stand.'
