Abu Bakr said: "O Messenger of Allah, Islam and old age are sufficient for a man as a restraint."

Abu Bakr, or Umar, said: "I bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah." Allah says: "And We have not taught him poetry, nor is it befitting for him."

His saying, the Exalted: "From what Our hands have wrought."

18113 - From al-Suddi, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "From what Our hands have wrought," he said: "From Our creation."

His saying, the Exalted: "And We have tamed them for them, so some of them are their mounts..." to His saying: "Will they not then give thanks?"

18114 - From Qatadah, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "So they are owners of them," he said: "They have control over them. 'And We have tamed them for them, so some of them are their mounts,' they ride them and travel upon them, 'and of them they eat,' their meat, 'and for them therein are benefits,' he said: 'They wear their wool, 'and drinks,' they drink their milk, 'will they not then give thanks?'"

18115 - From Harun, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: "The recitation of al-Hasan al-A'raj, Abu Amr, and the general public is 'minha rakubuhum,' meaning their beast of burden, their transport."

His saying, the Exalted: "They are not able to help them."

18116 - From al-Suddi, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "They are not able to help them," he said: "The gods are not able to help them."

18117 - From Qatadah, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "They are not able to help them," he said: "The help of the gods; and the gods are not able to help them. 'And they are for them a host held in readiness,' he said: 'The polytheists become angry for the sake of the gods in this world, and they [the gods] do not bring any good to them, nor do they ward off any evil from them; they are merely idols.'"
