relaying from Bishr, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Whoever calls to something will be held with it until the Day of Resurrection; he will not leave it nor will he depart from it, even if a man calls another man." Then he recited: "And stop them, for they are to be questioned."
18158 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: "Assemble those who did wrong and their pairs," he said: "Their likes." In another wording: "Their counterparts."
18159 - From Zayd ibn Aslam, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "Assemble those who did wrong and their pairs," he said: "Their pairs in their deeds." He then recited: "And you become three kinds (pairs)." Thus, the companions of the right are a kind, the companions of the left are a kind, and the forerunners are a kind.
18160 - From Qatadah, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "Assemble those who did wrong and their pairs," he said: "Their likes among the disbelievers with the disbelievers." And concerning what they used to worship other than Allah, he said: "The idols."
His saying, the Exalted: "And guide them to the path of the Hellfire."
18161 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: "And guide them to the path of the Hellfire," he said: "Drive them."
18162 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: "And guide them," he said: "Direct them." To the path of the Hellfire, he said: "The road to the Fire."
His saying, the Exalted: "And stop them, for they are to be questioned."
18163 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: "And stop them, for they are to be questioned," he said: "Detain them; they are to be held accountable."
18164 - From Uthman ibn Za'idah, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: It used to be said that the first thing a servant is asked about on the Day of Resurrection is regarding his companions."
