His saying, the Exalted: "What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?"
18165 - From Qatadah, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?" he said: "None of you shall defend the other; rather, they are today submissive in the punishment of Allah." "And they will approach one another, questioning each other," he said: "Humanity against the Jinn." The humans said to the Jinn: "You used to come to us from the right," he said: "From the side of righteousness, to divert us from it." The Jinn said to the humans: "Rather, you yourselves were not believers... so the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us." He said: "This is the speech of the Jinn: 'And we misled you; indeed, we were ourselves astray.'" This is the speech of the devils to the misguided sons of Adam. And they say: "Shall we leave our gods for a mad poet?" meaning Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. "Rather, he has brought the truth and confirmed the messengers," meaning, he confirmed those who came before him among the messengers. "Indeed, you are the tasters of the painful punishment. And you are not being recompensed except for what you used to do, except for the chosen servants of Allah." He said: "This is the exception by Allah: 'Those will have a known provision.'" He said: "Paradise."
His saying, the Exalted: "And they will approach one another, questioning each other."
18166 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: "And they will approach one another, questioning each other," he said: "That is when they are resurrected at the second blowing of the Trumpet."
His saying, the Exalted: "You used to come to us from the right."
18167 - From al-Hasan, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "You used to come to us from the right," he said: "They used to come to them at every good deed to divert them from it."
His saying, the Exalted: "And we misled you."
18168 - From al-Suddi, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "And we misled you," he said: "The devils say: 'We misled you in the world, indeed we were ourselves astray,' for on that day, they and those they misled in the world are partners in the punishment."
18169 - From Mujahid, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "You used to come to us from the right," he said: "From the truth; the disbelievers say this to the devils."
18170 - From al-Hasan, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "You were not believers," he said: "Had you been believers, you would have prevented us from you."
