His saying, the Almighty: "Then, indeed, for them over it is a mixture of scalding water."
18200 - My father narrated to us, Haywah ibn Shurayh al-Hadrami narrated to us, Baqiyyah ibn al-Walid narrated to us, from Safwan ibn Amr, Ubayd Allah ibn Yasar informed me, from Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), that he used to say: "A drink will be brought near—meaning to the people of Hell—so he will loathe it. When it is brought near him, it will scald his face, and his scalp will fall into it. Then, when he drinks it, it will sever his intestines until it exits from his posterior."
18201 - From Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "Then, indeed, for them over it is a mixture of scalding water," he said: A mixture. "Then, indeed, their return is to Hell." He said: They are in distress and torment between Fire and scalding water. And he recited this verse: "They will go around between it and between scalding water, heated."
18202 - My father narrated to us, Amr ibn Rafi' narrated to us, Ya'qub ibn Abd Allah narrated to us, from Ja'far and Harun ibn Antarah, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, who said: When the people of Hell become hungry, they will cry out for help to the Zaqqum tree, so they will eat from it, and it will snatch away the skins of their faces. If a passerby were to pass by them who knew them, he would recognize their faces amidst it. Then thirst will be poured upon them, and they will cry out for help, and will be helped with water like molten copper—which is that whose heat has reached its limit. When they bring it near their mouths, the flesh of their faces, from which the skin has already fallen off, will be roasted by its heat, and what is in their bellies will be melted. They will walk while their intestines flow out and their skins fall off. Then they will be struck with maces of iron, and every limb will fall off separately, and they will call for destruction.
His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, they found their fathers..."
18203 - From Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying: "Indeed, they found their fathers," he said: They encountered their fathers.
18204 - From Mujahid (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "Indeed, they found their fathers astray," he said: Ignorant. "And they are rushing on their footsteps," he said: In the manner of a trot."
