His saying, the Almighty: "And indeed, among his sect [was Abraham]."
18212 - From Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying: "And indeed, among his sect [was Abraham]," he said: From the people of his descendants.
18213 - From Mujahid (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "And indeed, among his sect was Abraham," he said: Abraham was of the sect of Noah, upon his methodology and his practices. "When he came to his Lord with a sound heart," he said: There is no doubt in it.
His saying, the Almighty: "And he cast a look at the stars."
18214 - From Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib regarding His saying: "And he cast a look at the stars," he said: He saw a star rising and said: "Indeed, I am ill." He said: You are using trickery regarding the stars. He said: It is a phrase from the speech of the Arabs, which Allah, His religion be exalted, says.
18216 - From Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "And he cast a look at the stars," he said: It is a phrase from the speech of the Arabs, meaning when he reflects, he looks at the stars.
His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, I am ill."
18217 - From Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "Indeed, I am ill," he said: Stricken with the plague.
18218 - From Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "Indeed, I am ill," he said: Plague-stricken, and they used to flee from one stricken with the plague.
18219 - From Zayd ibn Aslam (may Allah be pleased with him) he said: Their king sent for him and said: "Tomorrow is our festival, so come out." He said: So he looked at a star and said: "Indeed, this star has never risen except that it rose with an illness for me." So they turned away from him, departing.
His saying, the Almighty: "So they turned away from him, departing."
18220 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "So they turned away from him, departing," he said: They recoiled from him, moving away. "Then he turned [in a deceptive way] to their gods," he said: He turned to their idols and said: "Do you not eat?" He is trying to make them speak. "What is the matter with you that you do not speak? Then he turned upon them, striking [them] with the right hand," meaning he approached them and broke them. "Then they came toward him hastening," he said: They came running. He said: Do you worship what you carve from idols?
