18328 - From the path of Abu Zabyan, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding "And they called out, but it was not the time for escape," he said: There is no time for escape (1).
18329 - From the path of 'Ali ibn Talha, from Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding "And they called out, but it was not the time for escape," he said: It is not a time for rescue (2).
His saying, the Almighty: "And the eminent among them went forth."
18330 - From Abu Mijlaz who said: A man said on the day of Badr, "They are only women." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Rather, they are the eminent (al-mala)," and he recited: "And the eminent among them went forth" (3).
18331 - From Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: "And the eminent among them went forth," he said: It was revealed when the notables of Quraysh went to Abu Talib to speak to him regarding the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him (4).
His saying, the Almighty: "We have not heard of this in the latest religion."
18332 - From Muhammad ibn Ka'b regarding "We have not heard of this in the latest religion," he said: The religion of 'Isa (Jesus), peace be upon him (5).
18333 - From Mujahid, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding "We have not heard of this in the latest religion," he said: Christianity (6).
His saying, the Almighty: "Then let them ascend through the ways."
18334 - From Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: "Then let them ascend through the ways," he said: In the heaven (7).
His saying, the Almighty: "[It is] a host of the confederates [that is] there, defeated."
18335 - From Qatada, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "[It is] a host of the confederates [that is] there, defeated," he said: Allah promised him while he was in Makkah that the host of the polytheists would be defeated for his sake, and its interpretation came to pass on the day of Badr. And regarding His saying: "And Pharaoh, owner of the stakes," he said: He had stakes, tethers, and places of sport where they would play for him. And regarding His saying: "All of them except they denied the messengers, so My punishment was justified," he said: All of these have indeed denied the messengers.
