: 2025: Great: 2: Some of the family of Abdullah ibn Jahsh mentioned that Abdullah said to his companions: "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is entitled to one-fifth of what we have taken as spoils of war." This was before Allah made the one-fifth (khums) of spoils mandatory. So he set aside the one-fifth of the caravan for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and divided the rest among his companions.

Ibn Ishaq said: When they came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he said: "I did not command you to fight during the sacred month."
