Then Allah the Exalted revealed: "And do not hold them back to cause harm so that you may transgress; and whoever does that has surely wronged himself." Al-Zajjaj said: "Has surely wronged himself" means he exposed himself to punishment, for committing what Allah has forbidden is an exposure to the punishment of Allah.
