: 2319: The 'Iddah: 2: It is derived from this that it is obligatory for a woman whose husband has passed away to observe mourning (ihdad) for the duration of her 'Iddah, due to what has been established in the two Sahihs (Bukhari and Muslim) from more than one source via Umm Habibah and Zaynab bint Jahsh, the two Mothers of the Believers, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "It is not permissible for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to mourn for a deceased person for more than three days, except for a husband, for four months and ten [days]."
