al-Manthur (2/46), Ibn Kathir (2/54), and al-Tabari (3/232).

691: 3747: Forbearing (hulama'): 1: Tafsir al-Thawri: (p. 691). And Ibn Kathir: (1/377).

693: 3756: Muslims (muslimun): 1: Previously mentioned in the Tahqiq footnote: (p. 690), see Tafsir Ibn Kathir (2/54), al-Manthur (2/46), and al-Tabari (3/232).

: 3758: Some (ba'dan): 2: Tafsir 'Abd al-Razzaq: (1/130).

695: 3768: The defiantly disobedient (al-fasiqun): 1: Al-Qurtubi said in the interpretation of His saying, the Almighty: "And whoever turns away after that - then those are the defiantly disobedient": "Man" (whoever) is a conditional particle. So whoever turns away from the nations of the prophets from belief after having taken the covenant, "then those are the defiantly disobedient," meaning those who depart from belief. And the fasiq (the defiantly disobedient) is the one who departs.

: 3769: The two parties (al-bahrayn): 2: Al-Kalbi said: Ka'b ibn al-Ashraf and his companions disputed with the Christians before the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and they said: "Which of us is more entitled to the religion of Ibrahim?" The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Both groups are innocent of their religion." They said: "We are not satisfied with your judgment, nor do we accept your religion." Then was revealed: "Do they desire other than the religion of Allah?" meaning, are they seeking (it)?

696: 3770: Willingly (taw'an): 1: What is between the parentheses is from the footnote and al-Durr: (2/48).

: 3774: And unwillingly (wa karhan): 2: Anas ibn Malik narrated that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said regarding His saying, the Almighty and Exalted: "And to Him has submitted whoever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly and unwillingly," he said: "The angels obeyed Him in the heavens, and the Ansar and 'Abd al-Qays in the earth." And he, peace be upon him, said: "Do not revile my companions, for my companions embraced Islam out of fear of Allah, and the people embraced Islam out of fear of the sword."
