: 3973: To the people: 2: The Imam said: Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Malik narrated to us, Sharik narrated to us, from Simak, from 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umayrah, from Durrah bint Abi Lahab, who said: A man stood up to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, while he was on the pulpit and asked: O Messenger of Allah, who is the best of people? He replied: "The best of people are those who are strongest and most God-fearing among them, who enjoin good, forbid evil, and maintain family ties the most." Narrated by Ahmad (6/432), al-Manthur (6/99), al-Kanz (28782, 28948), al-Majma' (7/263), and its narrators are trustworthy; there is some discussion regarding a few of them, but it does not diminish its validity.
