: 4603: The prophets: 2: Al-Qurtubi said: He means Zakariyya, Yahya, and Isaiah, and the rest of those who were killed from among the prophets—peace be upon them—and you did not believe in them. He intended by that their predecessors. This verse is the one that 'Amir al-Sha'bi—may Allah be pleased with him—recited, and he used it as an argument against the one who justified the killing of 'Uthman—may Allah be pleased with him—as we have explained.
