899: 5009: Garbles (yugharghir): 1: Narrated from Abu Hurayrah - may Allah be pleased with him - who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Indeed, Allah accepts the repentance of the servant as long as he has not reached the point of the death rattle (yugharghir)."

Authentic (sahih). Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (hadith/3537), who said: This is a hasan sahih gharib hadith. Also by Ahmad (2/132, 3/425), Shihab (1085), al-Hakim (4/257), al-Targhib (4/93), al-Shajari (1/198), al-Mughni 'an Haml al-Asfar (4/446), al-Qurtubi (5/92, 7/147, 8/384), al-Hilyah (5/190), Ithaf (8/525, 10/259), al-Mishkat (2343), al-Kanz (10187, 10257, 10260), al-Jawami' (5287, 5291), and Ibn Hibban (2449).

901: 5019: From him: 1: Imam Ahmad said: Sulayman ibn Dawud narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Thawban narrated to us, my father narrated to me, from Makhul, that 'Umar ibn Nu'aym narrated to him, that Abu Dharr narrated to them: That the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Indeed, Allah accepts the repentance of His servant, or forgives His servant, as long as the veil has not fallen." It was asked: "And what is the veil?" He said: "That the soul departs while it is a polytheist."

Narrated by Ahmad (5/174), al-Bukhari in al-Tarikh al-Kabir (2/21, 161), and al-Manthur (2/131), al-Tabari (4/205), Ibn Kathir (2/206, 207, 208), and al-Majma' (10/198), and he attributed it to Ahmad and al-Bazzar, and it contains 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Thabit ibn Thawban, and a group [of scholars] declared him reliable, while others declared him weak.
