(2/131), al-Tabari (4/205), Ibn Kathir (2/206, 207, 208), and al-Majma' (10/198), and he attributed it to Ahmad and al-Bazzar. It contains 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Thabit ibn Thawban, whom a group [of scholars] declared reliable, while others declared him weak.

: 5041: With kindness: 2: Ibn Kathir said in his interpretation of this verse: That is, improve your speech towards them, and beautify your actions and conduct according to your ability, just as you would love for her to do the same for you, so do the same for her, as the Almighty said: "And they have rights similar to those against them, in kindness."

And the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "The best of you are those best to their families, and I am the best of you to my family; and when your companion dies, leave him alone."

Authentic (sahih). Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (hadith/3895), who said: "This is a hasan gharib sahih hadith." Also by Ibn Majah (hadith/1977), al-Darimi (2/159), al-Bayhaqi (7/468), al-Majma' (4/303, 9/174), al-Tabarani (19/363), Ibn Hibban (1312, 1315), Mushkil (3/211), al-Sahihah (462, 1174, 1845), al-Mishkat (2352, 2353).
