Al-Hakim narrated it in his Mustadrak from the hadith of Ibn Jubayr from Ibn 'Abbas and said: 'It has an authentic chain of transmission, though they [Bukhari and Muslim] did not record it.'" Through the path of Qatadah from al-Hasan, it was narrated by Ubayy ibn Ka'b as a marfu' (elevated) hadith, and Ibn Kathir said: "This is a gharib (strange) hadith from this perspective, and it contains an interruption."
