: 5367: Tayammum: 2: It is established in the two Sahih collections from Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah—may Allah be pleased with them both—who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been given five things that were not given to anyone before me: I have been granted victory through awe (inspired in my enemies) from a distance of a month's travel; the earth has been made a place of prayer (Masjid) and a means of purification (Tahur) for me; the spoils of war have been made lawful for me, though they were not made lawful for anyone before me; I have been given the power of intercession; and the Prophet used to be sent only to his own people, while I have been sent to all of mankind."

963: 5376: For you: 1: Al-Qurtubi said: This is the verse of Tayammum; it was revealed concerning 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf, who was in a state of major ritual impurity (Janabah) while he was wounded, so he was granted a concession to perform Tayammum. Then, the verse became general for all people. It is also said that it was revealed due to the Companions not finding water during the expedition of al-Muraysi' when a necklace of 'Aishah was lost.
