Tafsir Ibn Abi Hatim
Volume 11 · Page 294

Translation · EN

998: 5578: Allah: 1: Similar to it. Al-Manthur (3/210, 241).

: 5579: After it: 2: It is established in the Sahih from the hadith of Haql ibn Ziyad, from al-Awza'i, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Abu Salamah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, from Rabi'ah ibn Ka'b al-Aslami who said: I used to spend the night with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and I brought him his water for ablution and his needs. He said to me: "Ask." I said: O Messenger of Allah, I ask for your companionship in Paradise. He said: "Is there anything other than that?" I said: That is it. He said: "Then help me against your own self with much prostration."

Al-Targhib (1/249), al-Kanz (19006), and al-Hilyah (7/314).

: 5583: Separated: 3: Tafsir Ibn Kathir: (1/524).

999: 5584: All of you: 1: Tafsir Ibn Kathir: (1/524).

: 5588: Jihad: 2: The previous source.

1000: 5595: Precedence: 1: Al-Qurtubi said: The phrasing here involves precedence and postponement (i.e., inversion).

It is said: The meaning is, 'they will surely say as if there had been no affection between you and him,' meaning as if he had not entered into a covenant with you for Jihad.

: 5600: The polytheists: 2: The address is to the believers, meaning, 'then let him fight in the way of Allah.'

1001: 5605: Reward: 1: The apparent meaning of the verse necessitates equality between the one who is killed as a martyr and the one who returns having gained spoils. In Sahih Muslim, from Abu Hurayrah, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Allah has guaranteed for whoever goes out in His way—nothing drives him out except Jihad in My way, belief in Me, and confirming My messengers—that I will guarantee for him that I shall either admit him into Paradise or return him to his dwelling from which he set out, having attained whatever he attained of reward or spoils."
