Ibn al-Mubarak narrated, saying: He who heard al-Hasan say told me: When nations are brought before the Lord of the Worlds on the Day of Resurrection, it will be called out: Let those whose reward is upon Allah stand, and none shall stand except those who forgave in this world. This hadith is confirmed by His saying, the Almighty: "But whoever pardons and makes reconciliation, his reward is [due] from Allah."
